I have always been happiest in the company of dogs and horses. There have been numerous dogs throughout my life, ranging from Miniature Dachshunds, Pekinese, Beagles and English Bulldogs to Great Danes, Lurchers, Wolfhounds and St Bernards. Every one of them a true and very special friend and companion.

working dog foodLike a lot of young girls, my love of horses occupied my early life, going through the whole gamut from riding schools, gymkhanas to training and riding National Hunt rules races, but dogs always shone through as my first love.

For a while I was involved with the greyhound racing scene, learning a lot about correct feeding and exercise for this amazing breed. For the past 20 years I have devoted my life to my working gundogs.

My interest in dogs inspired me to study for the Diploma in Dog Psychology (Dip.dog.psy) in which I was delighted to gain a distinction, and I am now studying canine nutrition.

Throughout the journey with my much-loved animals I have learnt that the key to a healthy, happy and willing ‘partner’, is the very best quality care and feeding. I have looked over the shoulders of some of the best handlers and feeders of horses and dogs, and absorbed relevant bits of their knowledge and experience into a canine nutritional ‘mosaic’.

These experiences are the inspiration behind Proletariat Feeds. My 16 working gundogs are now my researchers and tasters and I feel that their whole demeanour, well being and boundless energy speak volumes for our products (see photos on Home Page). I hope that we, the Team, can assist you and your dogs in YOUR quest for the perfect canine cuisine. The canine version of Heston Blumenthal and Delia Smith we are not, but we aim to come close to their exacting standards!
